Our mission is to help members use their resources efficiently and grow stronger.
Providing significant discounts on the products, goods, and services that public health organizations use everyday to care for their clients. While our member organizations’ specific missions may be different, ultimately there is the same goal – to serve our communities and families.
"The Family Planning Cooperative Purchasing Program was developed in response to a very clear need: to control the costs of providing family planning services. We realized the tremendous potential of working together, the strength of our message and mission; the potential buying power and the ability to share information quickly and efficiently. While specific missions may be somewhat different, ultimately, there is the same theme - to serve our communities. The Cooperative Purchasing Network is an avenue to utilize limited resources effectively and efficiently. "
Margie Fites Seigle, CEO, California Family Health Council
The Cooperative Program has been in existence since 1992 and assists public health agencies in managing their higher cost/usage products and services. The Cooperative has approximately 900 agencies with 3,000 clinic sites across the country. These agencies are a diverse group comprised of state, county, multi-site and single site non-profit facilities. Each participating agency in the program signs a Participation Agreement and a Confidentiality Agreement, which state that the facility will utilize the cooperative contracts to the best of their ability.
Participating agencies provide clients with reproductive health services without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, economic status, sexual orientation, national origin, disability status, ancestry, medical condition, marital status, veteran status and to individuals protected by applicable federal, state, and local statutes.
Client participation in family planning programs is voluntary and all services are confidential. The majority of the client base is 100%-250% below the federal poverty level and agencies include an educational component in their program which covers informed consent and basic family planning information.
The basic contraceptive services provided for clients are physical examinations and comprehensive health history, contraceptive education and supplies, breast, cervical cancer and sexually transmitted disease screening, pregnancy testing, treatment and/or referrals, and emergency and complication services as needed.
